Our Residents’ Association Annual General Meeting will be held at Tanfield Bowling Club, just a short walk from the Colonies on Thursday, 26th March at 7.30pm. All residents are cordially invited to attend this community event which provides the ideal opportunity to have your say and meet other residents.
After the presentation of the annual reports of our fund-raising events and activities carried out by residents over the last 12 months, as a result of a poll on this website to choose a speaker, we shall have a talk by PC Neil Robinson, representing our local community police service. Much as we live in a relatively safe area of the city, we can certainly not afford to be complacent and PC Robinson will address such concerns as:
– Crime patterns in the area
-Police actions
-Home security (how residents can help police to avoid housebreaking and make home safer)
-Garden crime (covering the break-ins to sheds and outbuildings)
-Top tips to keeping your vehicle safe and preventing vehicle related crimes
-Local business crime prevention advice
-CCTV advice and issues
-Cycle advice and preventing bike thefts
-Neighbourhood Watch advice
The rest of the evening will be free for the exchange of experiences and ideas and general socialising. All residents are invited to come along to listen and contribute ideas for community events – and if you’d like to consider joining our committee, we’d be delighted to hear from you. Please contact coloniesgrapevine@gmail if you have any questions or would like information about the committee.
We also need a street convenor for each of 2 streets: Balmoral(high) with Collins (low) and Kemp(H) with Avondale (L) and would welcome any candidates for these positions.
The bar at Tanfield Bowling Club, hosting the event, will be open for us!
We look forward to seeing you there!
