Creative Colonies – what a lovely afternoon!

The weather couldn’t have been kinder for our autumn community event on Sunday afternoon, 9th November – not such a perfect day that everyone felt they had to go to the beach yet not wet, not cold, not windy – just ideal for venturing out to the Colonies streets to browse the delights on sale! It was even warm enough for one musical family to set up in the garden and lure customers in to see their watercolours and enjoy their wonderful home baking to the accompaniment of a teenage jazz trio!  Great fun!

Ten households participated this year, selling a range of hand-made greetings cards, unique silver jewellery, beautiful autumn and Christmas decorations, delicious, spectacular home baking to take away or to devour on the spot, genuine French tarte aux pommes and other delicacies,  amazing bow ties, fascinators, hair accessories, artwork, framed photographs – and this year’s particularly clever novelty was packs of home-made dog treats being sold alongside new prints of the distinctive gable ends of the Colonies.  The complete list of what was where can still be seen here (just in case you’re thinking of placing a commission!) and photos of the event attended so enthusiastically by residents, friends, family and fans of the Colonies are on the Stockbridge Colonies Facebook page.  Many thanks to everyone who helped to make the afternoon a great success!
