Do you take pride in living in the Stockbridge Colonies and enjoy the lovely green spaces all around us? If you’re a Stockbridge resident (Colonies or otherwise or maybe you enjoy walking along Glenogle Road to work…), then please help give our paths and green spaces a spring clean on Sunday, 10th April. We’ll meet at the Falshaw Bridge at 10.30am and would love to see as many helpers as possible. All equipment (including gloves) will be provided by the Water of Leith Conservation Trust but you might like to use your own gloves and, of course, please wear sturdy footwear and clothes which you really don’t care about! Together, we’ll pick up litter lurking under shrubs on the snakey – it’s incredible how much is concealed there! – scour the riverbanks for rubbish just prior to the foliage sprouting and birds nesting and, depending on the number of volunteers, we’ll pick up litter alongside other paths in our area too.
We plan to work from 10.30 until about noon but if you can only join us for part of the time, we’d still love to have you with us! Every bit of effort makes a difference and, much as we all think our area is fairly clean, we always manage a haul of at least a score of sacks of litter! This is an ideal way to meet other locals who care about the Colonies and our green spaces so, if you can come along, please join us!
