Carol-singing – Sunday, 17th December from 4pm

Our poll has now closed for votes to one of the 5 charities nominated by Colonies residents. Medical Aid for Palestinians was the clear winner, having been chosen by 56 out of the 156 residents who took the time both to look at the worthwhile work done by the wide variety of nominated charities and to vote. The runner-up was Scottish Refugee Council with 41 votes.

Our door-to-door collection accompanied by carol-singing along our Colonies streets on Sunday, 17th December (from 4pm) will, therefore, be in aid of Medical Aid for Palestinians. See https://www.map.org.uk for further information on this long-established charity’s work whose medical teams work not only in Gaza but also in Palestinian refugee camps elsewhere.

Please have some cash ready for when the singers arrive in your street! Cheques made payable to Medical Aid for Palestinians are also acceptable.

Everyone is invited to join the festive singing, be it for a short while or for the whole time from 4pm, starting on Bell Place, until about 6pm on Bridge Place.  Carol-sheets will be provided but please bring a cash/cheque donation, a torch, warm clothes – and a portable musical instrument if you’d like to accompany the singers!

An ideal way to keep warm is to be a collector and knock on our Colonies front doors! If you’d like to take one of those essential, friendly roles for any or all of the event, please contact Jane on coloniesgrapevine@gmail.com.
