Yard Sale, Sunday, 12th May 2013, 2-5pm

Updated 10th May 2013 Our popular annual community event, the Colonies Yard Sale, will be held on Sunday, 12th May from 2pm until 5pm.  We have a bumper list of participants this year – 35 in all – and for a taster of what will be where, read on!  You may like to print the list below!  Find us on facebook too under ‘Creative Colonies’.

All manner of merchandise is sold by us in our gardens, be it new or old, edible or not, useful or purely beautiful and  Davidsons Mains Junior Pipe Band will be here to entertain us at their own stall while they sell home baking and bric-a-brac.  It’s a great way to raise money for your favourite charity and/or yourself as well as being able to donate a small percentage (we suggest 20%) to the Residents’ Association.

By popular demand, we’ll have our home baking stall at 23 Teviotdale Place and Dorothy (332 8781) looks forward to hearing from you if you can bake and donate a cake or two.  There’s our tombola too – if you’d like to donate a prize, please take it to 4 Kemp Place for Morag – we’re grateful for all sorts of gifts for this big fund-raiser.

We have now closed the registration list so this is what you can expect to find where on Sunday – plus lots of surprises!  All the participants will mark their garden/house with balloons.

Our sale is the same day as the annual plant sale at the Botanics, as both parties benefit from the additional footfall to the area and now with the Stockbridge Sunday market and a ‘fabulous fashion fair’ (10am until 5pm) on the Accies ground on Comely Bank Road, there are so many reasons to visit Stockbridge on Sunday, 12th May!

In the unlikely event that the weather is inclement (!), it is entirely up to each vendor as to whether they move their shop indoors, quickly erect a tarpaulin, gazebo or tent or whether they decide to withdraw from the sale but we sincerely hope that most people will continue with their sale (especially since we all ended up having to move indoors in 2012 when gale force winds struck up at 1pm and the sale was still successful).  Fingers crossed that the weather will be kind to us this year!  Most importantly of all though, whatever the weather, we very definitely need customers to come along and enjoy the biggest ever Stockbridge Colonies Yard Sale!
